prelit with perimeter lighting, chandeliers and trees with twinkle lights.)
* Use of the gardens, grounds, gazebo, patio, plants, garden furniture. (Gazebo is lit with twinkle lights.)
* Two overnights for up to 18 guests in the Manor House and Lake Cottage with full country breakfast

* Reception Site: Inside the house. Your choice of the Dinning Room (Buffet style only, cannot
accomodate more than 24 seated.) or mingling within the Common Rooms.
* One overnight for up to 18 guests in the Manor House and Lake Cottage with full country breakfast
in the morning for those guests.

"Extras"
TABLES AND CHAIRS: The Plantation has 200 white, fan-backed chairs and 25 five-foot round tables
available to rent. Head count and payment are due when you arrive on the
weekend of your wedding.
For your reception: Tables + chairs = $5 per head
If you choose to have different chairs for your ceremony the cost is an extra $2 per head.
Most brides choose to have their guests move the chairs from the ceremony site to the
reception site.
If you need more chairs than the Plantation owns then you will need to out-source them
through another vendor.
KITCHEN RENTAL: If your caterer needs to use a kitchen, one is available with an extra bedroom and bath.
The cost is $250 per night.
EXTRA HOURS: $100 Per hour.
CHAIR SET-UP: $100
STAFF CLEAN-UP: $350.
CATERING RELEASE FEE: $200 If you choose not to use our preferred caterer, Traditions in Powhatan,
there is a release fee of $200 payable by the bride and groom before the
wedding weekend.
SECURITY DEPOSIT: A check for $750 is to be written, undated to cover any damages you may incure
during your celebration.

Independent Vendors:
- If you book with us, we can recommend several preferred vendors for you who will provide elegant and personalized service for all your wedding needs: caterers, photographers, DJ's and musicians, wedding planners, florists and decorators, party suppliers, beauticians, wedding cake bakers, carriage drivers, etc. Please note: All vendor costs are extra.
- Our exclusive caterer is Traditions in Powhatan (Suzie Barham), but you may select your own for a release fee of $200--if they are properly licensed for food and liquor service, insured for liability, hold a valid health dept. permit and their service will reflect well on Winterham Plantation. We do not do business with certain caterers, so please check with us first before signing a contract. Our approval is required.
Please Note:
- *Our new clear-span tent measures 40' x 60' (2,400 sq. ft.) and comes with side curtains that close for inclement weather. The tent is ventilated with oscillating fans on warm days, and there is a propane tent heater to use on cooler evenings for an additional cost of $250 per night. The pad consists of a 20' x 40' Brazilian walnut ballroom floor, which is large enough for all generations to dance on at once--from toddlers to grandparents. The peripheral pad for the tables and chairs is Pennsylvania blue-stone. An auxiliary carport tent behind the tent is reserved for your caterer to work out of.
- The manor house was built by a cousin of
Thomas Jefferson , John Garland Jefferson, ca. 1855. It was restored to its original grandeur in this century, but with all modern amenities. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a Virginia Landmark. - Recently, we converted an historic dependency into a luxury honeymoon suite ("The Lake Cottage"); so that our brides and grooms could enjoy privacy, away from the guests in the manor house. It also houses additional rest-room facilities for use during the reception.
- The views at Winterham are stunning. Behind the manor house, the pastures sweep down to a 14 acre lake. Across the water--as a massive "stage" backdrop for your ceremony and reception--lies a wholesale nursery with beautiful tree and shrub plantings. In front of the manor house lies a 400 acre pine forest and a
vintage dairy barn with silos. - Winterham is close to town, yet very country, just 20 minutes from the Brandermill shopping area, out Rte. 360. There is a new hotel just three minutes away, to lodge guests beyond those you have chosen to stay at Winterham. Don't subject your guests to a "city" wedding, when they can enjoy the pastoral beauty of Amelia and the elegance of a genuine Jefferson Family Plantation Home.
